Beijing Tiantan Hospital, Capital Medical University
Beijing Tiantan Hospital, Capital Medical University (here in after referred to as Beijing Tiantan Hospital) was founded on August 23, 1956. It is a grade-3class-A hospital with a neurosurgery unit and a characteristic neuroscience cluster, including medical treatment, teaching, research, and prevention. It also offers an Asian clinical, scientific, and teaching base of neurosurgery. Several medical institutions are located in Beijing Tiantan Hospital, including the China National Clinical Research Center for Neurological Diseases, the National Center for Healthcare and Quality Management in Neurological diseases, the China National Medical Licensing Examination Clinical Skill Test Center–Tiantan, the China National Cerebrovascular Disease Prevention and Treatment Office, the World Health Organization Collaborating Center for Research and Training in Neuroscience, the Beijing Institute of Neurosurgery, and the Fifth Clinical Medical College of Capital Medical University.
Since its establishment 62 years ago, it has inherited spirit of "noble medical ethics, persistent excellence, rigorousness and practicality, diligence and honesty" and has adhered to its purpose of "serving patients wholeheartedly." A number of Chinese clinical neuroscientists and leaders have emerged in succession, including Academician Wang Zhongcheng, Academician Zhao Jizong, Professor Dai Jianping, and Professor Wang Yongjun. Over the course of several generations, it suffered with the state and went through a difficult period of development, ultimately becoming China’s leader in clinical neuroscience. At present, the hospital is endowed with three national key disciplines and three national key clinical specialties among which both neurosurgery and neurology took first place in the scientific and technological value of Chinese hospitals in 2017 and 2018. It is credited with an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, two Beijing scholars, a First-batch Young Yangtze River Scholar of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic
"北京天坛医院始建于1956年8月23日，是一所以神经外科为先导，以神经科学集群为特色，集医、教、研、防为一体的三级甲等综合性教学医院，是世界三大神经外科研究中心之一、亚洲的神经外科临床、科研、教学基地。国家神经系统疾病临床医学研究中心、国家神经系统疾病医疗质量控制中心、全国脑血管病防治办公室、WHO神经科学培训合作中心、北京市神经外科研究所、首都医科大学第五临床医学院、北京脑重大疾病研究院脑肿瘤研究所、北京脑重大疾病研究院脑卒中研究所、北京市脑血管病临床研究中心、北京市脑血管病防治指导办公室、北京市脑血管病抢救治疗中心、《中华神经外科杂志》、《中国卒中杂志》等一批机构设在医院。
北京天坛医院已整体搬迁至丰台区南四环西路119号，新院区总占地面积181581平方米，总建筑面积 352294平方米，划分为医疗、干部保健、办公科研、教学等功能区域。医院在职职工3210人，临床、医技科室59个，编制床位1650张，拥有伽马刀、PET/MR、PET/CT、直线加速器、磁共振等大型医疗设备;拥有中国科学院院士1人、北京学者1人、首批教育部青年长江学者1人，国家重点学科3个，国家临床重点专科3个，博士培养专业18个，硕士培养专业29个，博士生导师78名，硕士生导师143名。新院区于10月6日试开诊，医疗、后勤、大型仪器设备、手术室等均运行平稳，就医患者有序，10月8日第一个工作日的门诊量已达老院区原有水平。
国家神经系统疾病临床医学研究中心依托北京天坛医院于2013年8月成立，是首批认定的唯一神经系统疾病临床医学研究中心与国内规模最大的神经系统疾病领域临床医学研究平台，集临床研究、技术创新、学术交流、人才培养、国际合作等于一体，设立16个基础、前沿和应用技术研究平台，汇聚了一批在临床研究、基础研究、方法学研究等领域的中青年学科带头人，推进临床神经科学创新平台与研究型病房建设，助力国家“脑计划”研究。
